Each creation takes on its own personality, bringing a smile to many faces. |
The business, Beyond the Bend, was started in 2003 and after the term "TwigonometryÒ" was created out on Moosehead Lake. A twig screen, made earlier that day was tied down over the cabin of our little boat. My husband and I were joking about how this twig stuff was taking over and we came up with "TwigonometryÒ." From that day on, I took on the new title of being the Twigonometrist. Wood is the primary medium I use to express myself artistically. I enjoy making unexpected, unpredictable pieces. I continuously collect interesting native wood during the non-snowy seasons and working mainly out side as the temperatures allow. I also combine cement with wood, local stones and leaf impressions to make other garden adornments and sculptures. |
Whimsical garden sculptures with combinations of native wood, lake stones and cement add an element of surprise and visual interest. | |

Working with Betsy is truly a pleasure. Her creativity, responsiveness and fantastic work makes her projects come to life in the most unique ways. What a wonderful way to personalize a garden or woodland walkway. Karen Stanley |

Thank you so much for the
beautiful gate you made for me! It is so precious to me and looks
great in my yard! I get so many complements from other people. It is really nice to have things in you yard that remind you of your friends and the people that mean a lot to you! Mary Lou Narbus |

Betsy Rockwell's twig fence, gate and arbor were built to surround a small garden at one of my projects in Lincolnville. Her craft lent perfectly to the rustic intent of the overall landscape design. This Adirondack style of craftsmanship is ideal for a cottage garden and Betsy does a beautiful job with her creative interpretation of this antique art!
